Q & A With Dr. J

Dr. J

As much as we advocate a healthy lifestyle including diet and exercise, sometimes people take it to the extreme in their quest for perfection, which can do more harm then good.

FitPerez’s own professional life coach, Dr. J, is back to answer a question from one of our readers, Laurie, whose family is concerned she may be working out a little TOO HARD. She asked:

“I fear gaining weight, I run 3-6 miles each morning, and try to swim laps or hike in the afternoon during the summer. I try to eat as few calories as possible daily. I use laxatives when I can get them. My family thinks I├óΓé¼Γäóm too thin, they don├óΓé¼Γäót understand. What should I do?”

According to Dr. J:

There is an immense amount of pressure to be your very best…physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, and socially. Perfection sometimes comes at a price that most of us can never afford. It can lead to Bankruptcy of the Better Part of Our Being. Your exercise regime, caloric restriction, and use of laxatives may feel like you are profiting from your efforts, but in actuality, you are evaporating your assets. There is a more appropriate approach to sustaining a healthy weight. It├óΓé¼Γäós time to talk to a professional to discuss your Health and Lifestyle Literacy. Invest in Yourself and the Dividends will last a Lifetime.
