Joe Paterno‘s son has just said that Joe has a treatable form of lung cancer.
And then he asked people to leave him alone while he deals with said cancer:
“His doctors are optimistic he will make a full recovery. As everyone can appreciate, this is a deeply personal matter for my parents, and we simply ask that his privacy be respected as he proceeds with treatment.”
We know what some of you guys are thinking. You’re thinking either “Karma!” or “Seems suspicious that he has this ‘leave me alone’ card.”
Well, for the rest of us, we see a man who has made mistakes, yes, but cancer is no laughing matter for anyone, and people would be out of their minds to make it up as an excuse to be left alone. So before there’s a slew of responses saying those things, we urge you to consider that it won’t be original and you aren’t the first person to think it.
We do hope his moral ethics continue to be questioned in light of the heinous crime he turned his back on, but we would NEVER wish cancer on him. That’s just terrible.
Having said that, we hope he makes it through it, as it sounds like he will.
