A baby elephant at the Hellabrunn zoo in Germany has died.
He was suffering heart problems stemming from serious blood clots.
He was going to be the first elephant to have heart surgery to remove a clot but sadly he died during preparations for the surgery.
The zoo director said:
“Considering the pathology, it has to be said it├óΓé¼Γäós a miracle that she lived as long as she did. Her arteries were so blocked that blood couldn├óΓé¼Γäót flow through her lungs anymore.”
Poor baby!
The body of the baby elephant, Lola, was brought to the herd of elephants so they could say goodbye to her by gently touching her lifeless body with their trunks.
Excuse us. We need to go grab a tissue.
