Even donkeys are feeling it in these hard economics times…
Texas and northwest Louisiana have been ravaged by the recent drought and economy and farmers have abandoned hundreds of donkeys due to the lack of business.
The donkeys helped herd the farmers’ cattle and goats, but with no water or food, ranchers have sold off their livestock.
No livestock, no jobs for the donkeys.
Sheriffs in Texas and Louisiana have wrangled the loose donkeys everyday and since March 2011, over 800 have been rescued.
The problem is, nobody wants them….so they are stuck.
