No…but researchers may be close to finding a SUPER antibiotic that comes from pandas!
Chinese scientists have found a peptide in giant panda blood that when synthesized, has shown the ability to fight and kill a wide variety of cooties such as bacteria and fungi.
The findings were published in a journal last year but they are finding new life and widespread attention now.
Lead author of the paper, Dr. Xiuwen Yan, claims that panda peptide may have the potential to fight off superbugs or be used as a surface cleaner.
Currently, there are fewer than 1600 pandas in the wild, so it’s going to be tough.
But still, if we turn into balls of black and white fluff, we’re perfectly OK with that!
