For some families, a huge debate an arise over Democrats vs. Republicans. And the claws are bound to come out at the dinner table this holiday season when family members begin to disagree over politics.
But we have 10 helpful tips that will (hopefully) keep the holidays peaceful this year.

1. Remember that it’s normal to disagree.
2. This is a given: Don’t drink too much!
3. Recognize your triggers.
4. Take a time-out.
5. Control your reaction.
6. Avoid labels.
7. Agree to disagree.
8. Be open.
9. Just don’t go there.
10. Remember why you’re there.

The last tip is especially important considering that the holidays are all about family, happiness, giving, and love. Politics should probably not even be a conversation topic around the dinner table anyway. Keep it light and fun and you’ll be sure to have an enjoyable day with the fam.
