What parent wouldn’t panic??
When Jennifer Lopez welcomed twins Emme and Max back in February 2008, she noticed there was a mysterious lump on her baby daughter’s head.
That’s when the new mother started to go in “panic mode.”
Jennifer describes the harrowing experience:
“I just remember that feeling, ‘If something is wrong with that baby . . I’m gonna die. I remember looking at Marc and said ‘We should call the doctor’ . . . I started panicking a little bit.
We were thinking, ‘Did somebody drop her when we weren’t looking? . . . I just remember looking at him and saying if this baby, if Emme’s not going to be OK . . . I’m not going to be OK. He’s like ‘I’m not going to be OK. None of us are going to be OK.”
After rushing her to the hospital, it turned out nothing was wrong, but it did make J. Lo wonder what it must be like for parents who don’t have the fortunate access to whatever resources they want. She said:
“I was (thinking) like what if I didn’t have that? What if I didn’t have access to great health care? What if I was a mom just sitting there and there was something wrong with my baby and there was nothing I could do about it?”
Unfortunately, that’s the case for millions of moms around the country, and around the world. Jennifer should feel very, very lucky she has the means to give her children the best medical treatment they could possibly have.
Thankfully, Emme was okay and nothing was drastically wrong. We can only imagine what was going through her mind!
