Penn State is still feeling the burn of Jerry Sandusky‘s evil ways, but mostly in their wallet!
The question is, though — is it a lot, given what has happened… or is not enough??
The school has just released a document that details the agreement with the former FBI director for investigating, which cost the school $8.1 million (and it seems like the investigation was rushed and incomplete, lacking recommendations). Now, add that to the rest of the bill, and by the end of December, Penn State had total costs of $41 million!
The first of five annual $12 million installments – paid in December – that would ultimately cover the $60 million fine from the NCAA, was also included in that number. They’ve released this info because critics have prodded them into showing itemized costs for transparency’s sake, and the urge to figure out exactly what the former FBI director was paid for, and if he made good on the promises.
Some are even calling for a refund of his fee!
It’s weird — we feel like this is less about the atrocities that happened, and more about the money now. Has enough time really passed to focus on things like this instead of insuring that this NEVER happens again??
