Woman Hangs Collection Of Menstrual-Stained Cloth In 'Intimate' Art Exhibit!

bloody art exhibit
When life hands you lemons, make lemon sorbet! When life hands you menstrual cycles, make art??
Whether or not you agree with the second philosophy, a Chilean artist by the name of Carina Ubeda has done exactly that! She spent five years collecting her own menstrual blood, and has now hung her collection for the world to see.
Beneath the bloody stains are stitched words like “Production”, “Discard”, and “Destroyed”.
While we’re sure this is inspiration for some, we just kind of feel sick!
Here are the answers to some of the basic questions that have arisen in the wake of her exhibit:
Why she hasn’t used disposable pads for the last five years:

“I can not wear pads because they give me allergies.”

Why the menstrual cloths are strung up like that:

“This is a super visual.”

What happens when people who don’t know any better and smell the cloths:

├óΓé¼┼ôThe smell just does not exist, [the cloths] are not filthy.”

Why she would want to display these cloths:

“Many people have asked me why I wanted to show something so intimate. . . For me, it is simply a work of art made ├óΓé¼ΓÇ╣├óΓé¼ΓÇ╣by me, I see them as separate things.”

We├óΓé¼Γäóll let you judge for yourselves as you watch a video of her display…AFTER THE JUMP!!!
