When Christmas time rolls around there are many children at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center that can’t go home.
Thousands of community members write messages of hope to the children staying there, which to us, sounds like a beautiful program.
ESPN thought so too because they shared the organization’s commercial onto their network, but there was an issue├óΓé¼┬ª
They specifically included the sentence, “We celebrate the birth of Jesus” in their voice over narration.
That was actually enough to get the commercial banned from airing, because of it’s overt religious tones!
ESPN originally said:
“ESPN does not accept advertising that consists of, in whole or in part, political or religious advocacy or issue-oriented advertising.”
They later approved a version of the commercial that was less religion-y but they still faced TONS of criticism.
Doesn’t matter though because they reversed their stance and will air the ad after all!
Check out the video (above) to see the ad and see if U feel it’s too religious.
