Schools should be safe places for our kids.
How does someone even take that first step to giving/getting cell phone numbers to and from students? How does anyone initialize that?
Eighth-grade teacher Melissa Lindgren, 28, was able to do it without much hesitations — and it led to her both sexting AND molesting two of her male students.
Melissa was arrested after six years teaching at Nicolas Junior High School in Fullerton, and placed on administrative leave.
It was the two students who came forward with the information. Their teacher was then charged with child molestation, child annoyance and dissemination of harmful matter to a minor. She apparently confessed to the crimes during questioning.
Everyone is investigating whether or not she did this to other kids too, during her six years.
Superintendent Bob Pletka seems optimistic about it being an isolated incident, though we’re not sure we’d trust someone’s opinion in regards to the child molester his school hired. With such an awful situation, of course he’s not going to be pessimistic about a situation that begs for pessimism:
“I believe that it was more than a single incident. I do think it was over some period of time. Ultimately, we will pursue termination, and it is an administrative law judge who makes that decision. But she will not be teaching with our kids at our district.”
She was booked and then released on $100,000 bail, and will be arraigned on April 9th.
It’s just such a disgusting shame.
