It’s not TV. And for a few more years, it’s not Netflix either!
HBO has signed an exclusive deal with Netflix competitor Amazon Prime. The streaming service will be the only (legal) place on the Internet to offer full series runs of The Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, and more classic HBO shows.
Perhaps more importantly, Amazon will also be the first to offer new hits Girls, Veep, and The Newsroom, available three years after their initial air date- meaning we get the first few seasons of True Blood right now!
This is great news for Amazon, whose new Fire TV platform will also host HBO GO! It’s less than great for Netflix, whose shares have already dropped 2.7% just from the announcement! Ouch!
You can binge all your HBO faves starting on May 21st!
You know, unless you only have Netflix.
