Gwyneth Paltrow is at it again… or is she?
The Shakespeare In Love star has expressed some unpopular notions in the past, and now she’s expressing some crazy science theories.
In her latest issue of Goop, Gwyn shared her belief in Masaru Emoto‘s experiments showing that positive and negative words could change the way water molecules freeze! She wrote:
“I am fascinated by the growing science behind the energy of consciousness and its effects on matter. I have long had Dr. Emoto’s coffee table book on how negativity changes the structure of water, how the molecules behave differently depending on the words or music being expressed around it.”
Gwyneth’s friend Dr. Habib Sadeghi explained the experiments for her, writing:
“Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto performed some of the most fascinating experiments on the effect that words have on energy in the 1990s.
In his experiments, Emoto poured pure water into vials labelled with negative phrases like ‘I hate you’ or ‘Fear.’ After 24 hours, the water was frozen, and no longer crystallised under the microscope: It yielded grey, misshapen clumps instead of beautiful lace-like crystals.
In contrast, Emoto placed labels that said things like ‘I love you’ or ‘Peace’ on vials of polluted water, and after 24 hours, they produced gleaming, perfectly hexagonal crystals.”
Negative words destroying molecules?? No wonder Gwyn thought Internet trolling was as bad as war!
So is this one of Gwyn’s infamously annoying quotes? Is she just encouraging people to buy more expensive water? Or is there actually something to this??
Dr. Emoto’s experiments are real; you can see the results all over on Youtube.
But is the science behind them good? Someone get the Mythbusters on this stat!
