This whole thing is just so sad.
Casey Kasem has been in critical condition since the beginning of June and has remained in the hospital while his wife, Jean, and daughter Kerri have been battling it out for his conservatorship.
In the end, the judge ruled that Kerri will continue to have control over her father’s health.
Sadly, the legendary radio DJ’s children have decided to pull the plug on their father by withholding medication, food, and fluids. They plan on spending his final week with him.
Their decision is a result of what their dad told them before. Casey’s kids revealed that their father has said:
“If the extension of my life would result in mere biological existence, devoid of cognitive function, with no reasonable hope for normal functioning, then I do not desire any form of life-sustaining procedures, including nutrition and hydration.”
This is such a terrible situation to be in.
Obviously Jean isn’t happy with the final decision. She stormed out of the courtroom, screaming that the kids will have Casey’s blood on their hands.
It’s a hard decision, but maybe it’s best that he doesn’t suffer anymore.
