She is absolutely right!!
Jennifer Aniston sat down with Carson Daly during an interview for Today this week, and none of it was fluff. In fact, she set some things straight and told it like it 100% is: her marriage status and how many kids she does or doesn’t have has NO BEARING on how much of a woman she is.
The pressure on women to get married and have babies is unfairly huge to begin with, but we’d have to say it’s always seemed to be dumped tenfold onto Jen.
Here’s what she had to say:
“I don’t have this sort of checklist of things that have to be done, and…if they’re not checked, then I’ve failed some part of my feminism or my being a woman or my worth and my value as a woman because I haven’t birthed a child. I’ve birthed a lot of things, and I feel like I’ve mothered many things. And I don’t feel like it’s fair to put that pressure on people.”
That’s awesome, right? Of course it is! It’s amazeballs!
The only thing we’d change, though, has nothing to do with the quote itself — but rather in one of the source articles. Right in the middle of that empowering quote, US Weekly recognized her as “Brad Pitt‘s ex-wife.”
Literally:
“[…]Brad Pitt’s ex-wife continued.”
Yep. Right in the middle of her talking about her feminist status, about her struggle to stay true to herself, they thought it was best to define her as Brad’s ex-wife.
REALLY??
We feel like that’s missing the point of what she’s trying to say entirely.
And let us say this: her point is flawless. She is no less a woman for her own personal decisions, and the fact that she’s making them for herself regardless of what others say proves the exact opposite.
