Some parents in New Zealand are NOT happy, and we honestly don’t blame them!
Totally inappropriate gummies were on sale exclusively in the South Island part of New Zealand, and one parent named Barrie Aburn from Dunedin found out about them through his kids!
His daughters bought him some Dragon Sweets for his birthday, but when he realized that the gummy bears were actually shaped like penises… and that’s when he and his partner, and rightfully so, freaked the F out!
Here’s what the partner Jacqui Hawkins said:
“I don’t find anything amusing about it at all. I find it disgusting.”
The managing director of the company that distributed these Chinese manufactured candies around that specific New Zealand area said he was unaware about the penis shaped candies, and that it’s hard to tell they’re inappropriate even when they’re right in front of his face!
Willem Van de Geest said:
“You have to look at it two or three times to think that doesn’t look right…It won’t happen again.”
The gummies were originally meant to be sold in England, and even though the manufacturers have repaid Willem Van de Geest for his troubles, Van de Geest admits that in Asia the shape of the candy would NOT be inappropriate!
He said:
“They wouldn’t even blink an eyelid. We see it as offensive. We don’t mind a hand or a foot being part of a lolly but we object to a breast or a penis.”
Different strokes for different folks!
But we’d definitely be a little peeved if we were these parents and our kids came back with some penis shaped candy!
Though, we’re not sure we’d freak out. We’d find it a little funny, too!
