Nothing is as touching as a mother’s love, but it just wasn’t enough in this case.
During Joe Giudice‘s sentencing last week, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star’s mother wrote a touching letter to try and explain her son’s issues, following his father Frank‘s passing over the summer.
Joe’s mom Filomena wanted to be there in person, but Joe reportedly didn’t want her to see him like that. So, she sent a letter to be read to the judge. A source revealed:
“Joe’s attorneys explained how much Joe loves animals, and said they had a chicken coop Frank was working on.”

Then the letter continued:
“One day, he was working on it to finish it for them as a surprise. Joe came out and saw his dad lying on the ground. He died in Joe’s arms. He tried to save him with everything he could. This has been an extremely hard time in our lives. The heartaches my son is experiencing has overcome him. Joe has lost not only his father, but also his best friend. He has learned that family always comes first.”
Filomena also added some details about how she married at 14, after her father died when she was nine, and how Joe was very respectful in school. But the judge was hearing none of it, and he’ll still be sent to jail.
At least their kids will have either Teresa or Joe over the next few years though.
