Abraham Lincoln Scores Auction House Big Bucks

Abe Lincoln’s memory is living strong these days!

On Thursday, the fancy auction house, Christie’s, sold one of the old president’s handwritten manuscripts for $3.44 million.

Lincoln trumps the recession!

The sale of the handwritten 1864 speech set a new auction record for any American historical document.

Thursday’s sale was just slightly higher than the previous record of $3.40 million set last year, also for a n1864 Lincoln document.

The manuscript was sold to an anonymous phone bidder.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward a new wing for the Southworth Library Association in Dryden, N.Y.

The recently sold document was given to the library in 1926.

Was Lincolnphile Barack Obama the anonymous phone bidder?
