Welp, that plan backfired.
In the GQ cover story released on Tuesday, Michael B. Jordan opened up about growing up on the east coast, Kendall Jenner dating rumors, and being a black actor in Hollywood.

The 28-year-old Fantastic Four star expressed his desire to blur the line between roles meant for certain races:
“I told my team after I finished Chronicle that I only want to go out for roles that were written for white characters. Me playing the role will make it what it is … Instead of taking something conceptually written for a black guy, I want the stuff that was written for a guy.”
We can’t blame him for wanting to play a variety of roles — right?
But for fans on Twitter, some commenters thought Mike forgot where he came from.
Remember: the actor gained a lot of traction in his career after his role playing Oscar Grant, a black man who was killed by transit police, in Fruitvale Station.
And an alleged Snapchat sent by Jordan with an “All Lives Matter” message didn’t help.
Outrage ensued on social media, with fans and foes sharing:
Let me find out Michael B. Jordan played #OscarGrant in a movie, but is on the #AllLivesMatter train.

Muy disappointed in Michael B. Jordan. Watching Fruitvale Station will never be the same.

Michael B Jordan said he doesn’t see color but made sure to mention how “THE BLACKS” reacted to him being seen with Kendall. Mmmmkay

You don’t see white & black?? But the producers who cast your ass sure does…so..

Michael B Jordan knows that if he says “Black Lives Matter” on Monday he’s doing Tyler Perry movies by Friday.

I don’t get how Michael B. Jordan can be on the “All Lives Matter” tip knowing as much as he knows about the life and murder of Oscar Grant

Yikes!
Well we hope Mikey just wants to diversify his roles and isn’t throwing any shade. Can’t we all just get along?!
