It’s a day of the week that ends with “y,” so that means the ladies of The View have stepped into another controversy.
This one comes courtesy of Raven-Symon├â┬⌐, who declared during a discussion about names that she wasn’t going to hire people based on what their parents named them.

During the round table, Raven — who bizarrely giggled hysterically throughout the segment — stated unequivocally that she would (does?) judge people based on their birth names.
She took it a step further, saying that even as a black woman, she wouldn’t hire other (in this context, black) women if their names sounded a certain way, saying:
“I’m not about to hire you if your name is ├óΓé¼╦£Watermelondrea’. It’s just not gonna happen!”
Um…
Yeah, we’re with Whoopi Goldberg. She did NOT just say that, right??
Here’s a clip of the remarks in question (below):

As to be expected, Twitter erupted immediately after Raven made the comments with tweets cascading against her, ranging from snarky to straight up disappointed and angry:
That Raven-Symon├â┬⌐ used “Watermelonisha” as an example of a “black name” shows you how deep the internalized racism and self-hatred goes.

Raven seems to see no irony in supporting discrimination against non-traditional names while having a non traditional name AND appearance.

I think #BlackTwitter should just go ahead and set up a special #RapidResponseTeam for Raven Symone and Ben Carson.

You would think a multiracial lesbian would be as liberal as they come but Raven is pretty much a white woman from 1923 Alabama.

Who is Raven even hiring

Who is Raven even hiring, indeed.
