They grow up so fast!
Becky G is gracing the March cover of Latina magazine — and she’s dishing on her rise to fame and her former relationship with Austin Mahone!
As for her coming-of-age, the 18-year-old says she’s happy she didn’t take the easy route:
“I think I really tested myself, what I’m capable of handling and not handling. That’s why I feel so empowered and in control right now. I was waiting for this moment, and now this moment is finally here, and I can take charge.”

Of course, with fame came her high-profile relationship with the Mmm Yeah singer:
“I can’t tell you when or where, but it just happened├óΓé¼┬ªIt kind of took me by surprise. For me, it was the first time dealing with being with somebody in the public eye. I thought, ├óΓé¼╦£OMG, I’m living the teenage dream, a pop star dating a pop star’├óΓé¼┬ªHe and I had to make a decision. We were just like, ├óΓé¼╦£We’re together. We’re not going to hide it.'”
But as we’ve reported, both of the emerging stars decided to focus on their individual careers:
“We both really cared about each other, but we had to decide if we were going to stay in this until the wheels fall off and we hate each other, or if we’re going to put our friendship first. We both knew what was coming in our careers, and that we just have to press pause, for now. Yeah. Keyword: pause.”
Becky says it’s not easy seeing her ex move on, but she can’t expect him not to:
“When you let go of it, you’ve got to let go. As tough a pill as it is to swallow├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥if he finds happiness in another person, then it just is what it is.”
As for her personal life, the Inglewood native says she’s focusing on putting out her album this year and acting as the Yellow Ranger in the 2017 Power Rangers film.
