Asher Potts was one of the best and brightest students at John Harris High School.
The ROTC member served on a panel at a January youth summit, met with lawmakers, and was a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.16 GPA!
But the model student was literally too good to be true — because it turns out that the precocious teen is actually a 23-year-old Ukrainian man!
Artur Samarin was arrested and is being charged with theft, identity theft, and tampering with public records — he is accused of using a false date of birth, social security card, and other documents.

According to reports, Samarin assumed his new identity after his visa expired and enrolled at the Harrisburg, PA high school since the fall of 2012 under the name Asher Potts (alas, he did not use a clever anagram as his alias):

Harrisburg School District Public Relations Coordinator Kirsten Keys said the district was taking the investigation “seriously,” releasing the statement:
“While we do not know all of the details surrounding the arrest, we are treating this as a serious matter. At this time, the investigation is in the hands of the Harrisburg Bureau of Police. The district will continue to cooperate fully with the police department as they move forward with their investigation.”
While it’s scary to think that the entire school had no idea who the imposter really was, we can’t help but wonder what Samarin was planning on doing after he graduated this year?
After this, we assume he’ll be going to law school — or at least get an up close look at the legal system — back in the Ukraine.
