The Donald has spoken!
And it’s pretty much exactly what you would have expected, regarding Donald Trump‘s response to campaign manager Corey Lewandowski‘s arrest on assault charges.

Lewandowski, as we reported, was arrested earlier on Tuesday morning because of an alleged assault that took place earlier this month on Michelle Fields, a Breitbart News reporter, at a campaign event.
Now, The Donald has given his take on the arrest — and he did it on his favorite communications tool, Twitter (below):
Wow, Corey Lewandowski, my campaign manager and a very decent man, was just charged with assaulting a reporter. Look at tapes-nothing there!

Why aren’t people looking at this reporters earliest statement as to what happened, that is before she found out the episode was on tape?

Look, we know Trump has to back his guy, but talk about trash!
The Trump campaign also released an official statement doubling down on Lewandowski’s innocence (below) and clarifying that the campaign manager apparently wasn’t technically arrested:
“Mr. Lewandowski was issued a Notice to Appear and given a court date. He was not arrested. Mr. Lewandowski is absolutely innocent of this charge. He will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated.”
Then again, this is just par for the course with the Trump campaign…
