A British tourist who was an eyewitness to the horrific Bastille Day attacks yesterday in Nice, France, went on live TV late Thursday night and said one of the most tone-deaf things we can imagine in the midst of such a tragedy.

Lucy Nesbitt-Comaskey was being interviewed by Sky News and asked about the tragedy — she was in the area of the attack on vacation — when she said something unbelievably insulting and insensitive about it:
“It may be a bit selfish, but it did spoil our shopping trip. We bought all this lovely shopping and now can’t be bothered with it. It doesn’t mean anything now.”
Ohhh… no! No, Lucy! Shopping, really??

Unsurprisingly, Twitter users absolutely blasted her for the comments, with some showing real anger about how insensitive she could be during such a scary, tragic time (below):

At least one British journalist is claiming that Nesbitt-Comaskey has apologized for her remarks on live TV, saying that she released this statement at some point last night (below):

Regardless, this is a very trying time for everybody.
