She won’t stand for bullshit.
New York City has been going through some monumental changes in the past 24 hours — and unlike the Statue of Liberty going dark last night, this change to Wall Street was no accident.
State Street Global Advisors, the world’s third-largest asset manager and nearly $2.5 trillion investor, installed a bronze statue of a defiant girl in front of the iconic Wall Street bull on Tuesday morning.
The statue was installed to celebrate International Women’s Day on Wednesday, and is part of the money manager’s campaign to pressure companies to add more women to their boards.

State Street said it would vote against boards of companies that fail to take steps to increase its female board members, and plans on sending letters to 3,500 asking companies to act.
And nothing symbolizes the ideology of women in leadership better than the new landmark of Fearless Girl.
A spokesperson for the company said in a statement:
“To celebrate International Women’s Day, State Street Global Advisors offered a new symbol of women in leadership. Standing strong and confident, a new iconic landmark arrives in the one place no one can ignore ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ New York City’s financial district.”
AH-Mazing!
If there’s one place where we need to grab society’s patriarchal bull by the horns, it’s Wall Street. And given the positive reaction, we have a feeling companies will be responding to this Fearless Girl.
