This is seriously fucked up.
Actor Josh McDermitt, who plays Eugene on The Walking Dead, has had to deactivate all his social media accounts after some fans started making death threats against him!

Apparently some viewers are upset that Eugene is in cahoots with Negan, the show’s villain, and also criticized him for not taking multiple opportunities to escape after being taken hostage. Meanwhile, Josh argues that his character is simply doing what he thinks is best in order to secure his own survival.
In a recent Facebook Live event, Josh addressed some of the fans who were attacking him, saying:
“‘Butthole’, death threats…don’t send me death threats, ’cause I’m gonna report all that shit to the cops. I’m just sick of it. You can hate Eugene, I don’t care – I’ll argue that you’re wrong, but you can think whatever you want. But when you start saying you hope I die, I don’t know if you’re talking about Josh or Eugene, and I report that shit, so don’t be an asshole.”
Meanwhile, other (saner) fans have rallied around the actor, even starting a #welovejoshmcdermitt hashtag to let him know he’s appreciated, and urging him to return to social media.

We’re sorry some fans have taken things so far that Josh has had to resort to this.
Even though most followers are awesome and respectful, there are always those few that have to ruin it for the rest of them.
We hope Josh returns to social media eventually! His true fans miss him!
