It’s nice to see people giving back to those left fortunate. And the producers of the hit flick Slumdog Millionare are doing just that. FINALLY!
The filmmakers of the Oscar-winning movie have announced that they will be donating money to help the children living in the Mumbai slums.
In fact, they’ll be donating ├é┬ú500,000. That’s close to $1 million, in order to create a five-year program which will provide healthcare and education for kids.
They’ll be doing this with the help of the international children development organization, Plan.
The movie’s director, Danny Boyle, released a statement saying “Having benefited so much from the hospitality of the people of Mumbai it is only right that some of the success of the movie be ploughed back into the city in areas where it is needed most and where it can make a real difference to some lives.”
We couldn’t agree more.
And aside from the money, a trust has also been created to look after two child stars of the film and help ensure they get an education and proper housing.
