Oh, Ted Cruz…
In a hilarious self-own from the most disliked man in congress, the Texas Senator said in his CPAC speech on Thursday:
“The Democrats are the party of Lisa Simpson, and Republicans are happily the party of Homer, Bart, Maggie, and Marge.”
LOLz, we’re pretty sure he was going for the numbers there, but anyone who has seen a single episode of The Simpsons knows that Lisa is the smartest, most reasonable person in a town filled with lovable but insipid buffoons who need to be saved from themselves. LOLz.

Of course, we weren’t the only ones who couldn’t help but smack around Cruz after such an idiotic gaffe!

Lisa Simpson was elected president at one point in the series.
She replaced Trump, who caused a budget crisis that Lisa inherits. https://t.co/3s2T7DVZxP https://t.co/lmyLlg5Fnr

Imagine being the kind of dude who thinks being compared the Lisa Simpson is an insult.

“I think the Democrats are the party of Lisa Simpson and Republicans are happily the party of Homer… ” Ted Cruz to CPAC.

Lisa’s a Democrat, Bart’s a Libertarian, Marge is a swing voter, Maggie is a Marxist revolutionary.
Homer never registered to vote.

Isn’t Lisa Simpson the only smart member of the family?

Oh my God, I would so much rather put Lisa Simpson in charge of America than 99% of other people. If loving Lisa Simpson means I have to hand in my conservative credentials, then take them.

Republicans are a cross-class alliance of Mr Burns and Grandpa Simpson.

Imagine being the kind of person who sees Lisa Simpson come on screen and thinks “You know? FUCK HER.” And then also thinking, with that same brain, “I ought to be the President of the United States.”

.@tedcruz Also: what a tremendous message to send to young women there, Ted. Be the smartest, the most prepared, the most compassionate person in your community, the voice of reason–just like Lisa Simpson–and have a sitting senator claim that’s a bad thing. Way to go.

my new conspiracy theory, which I believe with all my heart, is that Ted Cruz has never seen the Simpsons and a staffer just read the Wikipedia page to him

And even some Simpsons professionals took to Twitter to school Ted:
.@TheSimpsons Ted Cruz says Maggie Simpson would vote for him.
I think Ted’s the one who could use a pacifier in his mouth.

.@TheSimpsons The way things are going even Mr. Burns is thinking of becoming a Democrat.

Homer voted for Obama in 2008. And I personally worked on the gay marriage episode, in which Marge pleads with Reverend Lovejoy not to stand in the way of people who love each other. In fact, that’s the episode I’m most proud of.
