Hours after he was released from prison on Tuesday, Meek Mill rung the ceremonial bell before the start of Game 5 of the Philadelphia 76ers — Miami Heat playoff series in Philly!
Sixers co-owner Michael Rubin personally picked up the rapper from the slammer just before 7 p.m. and drove him to the arena, where he was the team’s VIP guest.
Rubin had visited Meek while he was incarcerated over the past few months for violating his probation. As we reported, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered to release the 30-year-old from prison on Tuesday, overruling Judge Genece Brinkley‘s widely-criticized decision to keep him behind bars.

Due to claims from Meek’s team that Judge Brinkley had been unfair to the rapper during the trial, the justices added that she “may opt to remove herself from presiding over this matter.” But Judge Brinkley insists on seeing this to the bitter end.
Her lawyer, A. Charles Peruto, Jr., told TMZ that the judge will not remove herself from Meek’s drugs and weapons case, and doesn’t feel the Supreme Court contradicted her rulings when it ordered that the rapper go free without bail, pending the next hearing in June.
The judge insists she holds no grudge against the rapper and has been fair from the start, and will continue to give Meek a fair trial during the hearing. This will determine if the drug and weapons case should be thrown out because of a police corruption case involving his arresting officer, Reginald Graham.
Peruto said that Judge Brinkley will not necessarily side with Meek’s lawyer, who wants the case thrown out due to the testimony of a crooked cop, because other officers have also testified in the case. So, if their credibility holds up, the judge might not overturn the conviction after all.

Though despite facing more jail time a couple months, Meek was in FULL celebration mode at the Sixers game Tuesday night.
Fans erupted into cheers as he came in court side and enjoyed the game with Kevin Hart by his side. He even got a post-prison shower in the team’s locker room!
