Yum!
A former bathroom in Boston Common, the nation’s oldest public park, is going to reopen as an Earl of Sandwich restaurant!
The 660-square-foot Pink Palace restroom was built on Boston Common in the 1920s. It hasn’t been used as a restroom since the 1970s.
Boston officials announced Wednesday that Mayor Thomas Menino (meh-NEE’-noh) signed a 15-year lease with the Orlando, Fla.-based Earl of Sandwich chain for a takeout operation at the site.
The sandwichers will pay $50k every year to have it, and will renovate only the interior to include their kitchen and stuff. We’re glad to hear it hasn’t been used as a bathroom for thirty years, because, well, gross.
We’re sure it’ll be popular, though! Even as a kind of a gimmick!
We love Boston, so this just gives us another excuse to visit!
