A Christmas Tragedy

With all the good news that comes during the holidays, there always seems to be some sad news nearby, such as the death of Eartha Kitt, the suicide of that Sopranos actor.

And, now, this!

A man dressed as Santa has opened fire at a Christmas party and left six people dead yesterday in California.

Their remains were found in the home after the gunman shot them and then set the house on fire. Three others, including the couple who owns the home and the alleged gunman’s ex-wife, are still missing.

Police found the body of 45 year-old Bruce Jeffrey Pardo with a single gunshot wound to the head, dead at his brother’s home in Los Angeles early on Thursday.

Los Angeles police Sgt. Martin Guerrero said “He was going through some type of marital problems, and we believe that this residence is a relative’s residence.”

Pardo had arrived at the party in Covina, California late on Wednesday when he immediately opened fire. He then used a homemade device to set the home on fire. And according to witnesses, he then took off his Santa outfit and left the burning house in regular clothes.

A neighbor to the burning house said about 25 people were at the party when he heard the gunshots. He then saw a teenage boy running from the house, yelling “They shot my family.”

So devastating.
