Though Loud Reed’s camp has denied the allegations, Susan Boyle holds firm that she was told she couldn’t perform Perfect Day on America’s Got Talent because he had a problem with it.
Yesterday, once the news broke of the incident, SuBo’s manager fired off a heated email to FremantleMedia, the company behind the production of AGT. Her manager confesses that her client was “absolutely devastated” when she learned Lou personally blocked her from performing his iconic song and holds the company responsible for the mix-up. The email says:
“Susan was absolutely devastated to be told on the morning of the show taping that Lou Reed had personally decided to block her singing his already much covered song, Perfect Day, on America’s Got Talent’ in L.A…We obviously had no idea of this prior to leaving London. None of us can understand the decision given that it’s such a beautiful rendition of the song.”
The email goes on to explain that SuBo felt she had to pull out of the gig as there wasn’t enough time to rehearse a brand new song and with “less than two hours to go before the recording,” she wasn’t about to wing it!
Poor gal! She never did handle rejection well. We’re just glad this didn’t send her over the edge!
