Our hearts ache for Alan Thicke‘s loved ones.
As we previously reported, the Growing Pains alum passed away on Tuesday after suffering from a heart attack while playing hockey with his son Carter. He was 69 years old.

And while countless celebrities have flocked to social media to mourn the beloved TV actor, it seems his family are reflecting on his death in different ways. Like many others, Alan’s son Carter took to Instagram and penned a heartfelt tribute to his father (below).
Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of it’s finest. I have never known a more kind, loving, hairy, and generous person in my life and I am forever grateful for the light that this man brought to my life and so many others. You will be missed every second of every day. You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time.A photo posted by Carter Thicke (@carter_thicke) on Dec 13, 2016 at 8:42pm PST
So sad. Not to mention, the late Canadian-born star’s other son Robin Thicke kept his comments brief while speaking to the Los Angeles Times about his dad’s passing. The Blurred Lines singer told the newspaper Alan was “the greatest man [he] ever met”.
Paula Patton‘s ex is certainly keeping his composure during this trying time, but that might be because Robin saw his dad not too long ago. He continued:
“The good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure… I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him.”
We really need a tissues right about now. However, Alan’s boys aren’t the only ones from Thicke’s extended family to speak out about this sad loss as the Hope & Gloria performer’s ex-wife Gloria Loring shared with Us Weekly:
“Thank you for your kindness concerning Alan Thicke’s passing. It is a shock. We were all just together for Thanksgiving. He was talented, funny and deeply devoted to his family. Rest In Peace, dear one.”
We can’t even begin to imagine what the Thicke family is currently going through, so we’re sending them only love during this particularly tough time. Stay strong, everyone!
