She’s found Mr. Right, and possibly the medicine cabinet!
Anyone who has heard the lyrics to You Oughta Know could see that Alanis Morrisette had a bit of an issuing with trusting guys — at least back in 1996.
Now he singer married to Mario ‘Souleye’ Treadway (and even has his baybay!) but there was a long time when she thought marriage was an all around crappy idea.
Alanis wrote a blog post about her feeling on marriage. She wrote:
“If I was to be part of the marriage conversation at all, I was not prepared to make a lifelong decision based on adherence to or rebellion toward something. There had to be a third way! And so began my passionate foray into all-things-research around a simple question: Why would I even entertain getting married?”
Yep, marriage is rather pedestrian, don’t you think? LOL. What Alanis is saying — in her meda poetic way — is why bother with getting married, what’s the point?
Now that she has made the “lifelong decision” to stick with one guy she has learned quite a bit. She writes:
“I thought getting married would be beautiful ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ and it is. I thought marriage would be hard ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ and it is. And I thought someone whose bones I would want to jump who also shared my new definition of marriage would be hard to find ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and it was.
But as my dear friend said to me during a particularly despair-filled moment, ‘You only have to find one.’ And I did. And I’m so grateful I kept the flame vision alive, and didn’t give up before I met him. (sic)”
We’re glad you kept the flame vision alive too!
In the end we’re just happy she didn’t end up with Uncle Joey!
