Call Her FIRED! Podcast Feud Rumors Escalate As Alex Cooper Drops Alix Earle's Show!

Are Alex Cooper and Alix Earle beefing? That is the rumor taking over social media, even more so now that Alex cut ties with Alix’s podcast!

Yeah, you read that correctly! According to a report from Variety on Tuesday, the Call Her Daddy host’s company, Unwell Network, dropped the TikToker’s Hot Mess podcast. Sources said SiriusXM would halt the sale of ads for the show, and the Unwell Network renounced all rights to it so Alix could explore other opportunities moving forward. This move comes amid the speculation of a feud. However, it is starting to look like these are not just rumors! There actually may be some beef between Alix and Alex!

Let us give a refresher and go back to the beginning of their relationship first, though. In August 2023, Alex announced she was starting the Unwell Network with her husband, Matt Kaplan, and signed Alix to launch her own podcast — Hot Mess. When the network first launched, Alex could not stop hyping up the content creator! She gushed about Alix at the TIME 100 event in October 2023:

“She is a beast. I think people think that she makes it look easy. That girl has a work ethic that I’ve never seen and I’m just so proud of her. I love any help that I can give her. Bow down to her, she’s amazing.”

They seemed like good friends and very supportive of each other at first! However, something shifted over the past year. Fans started to notice that the Unwell Network no longer promoted the Hot Mess podcast as much on social media and pushed Hallie Batchelder’s podcast Extra Dirty instead. Neither of the women has talked about each other in a while or appeared on each other’s podcasts. Then Alix’s dad, Thomas “TJ” Earle, revealed there had been some problems with a business partner during an episode of the show in December 2024. Her father explained his job was to have “hard conversations with people” who didn’t see her potential and even had to confront someone about “a business situation” that he “wasn’t happy” about.

TJ did not get into the details or say any names. However, many could not help but wonder if he hinted at drama with Alex at the time! Adding fuel to the feud rumors? Alix did not attend Unwell’s Super Bowl party in New Orleans earlier this month — even though she was in the city!

Now Alix has been fired from Unwell! Whoa! But here is the big question: Did this happen because they have a full-on feud or is there no drama and this was just a mutual business decision? Fans clearly think something is up! And they would be right!

Multiple sources revealed to Us Weekly on Wednesday that the women ARE feuding! One insider said that “there’s a lot of tension.” Over what? Alix and Alex allegedly had been fighting over the business, which ultimately ruined their friendship! A second source claimed:

“They’ve had a lot of drama between them [since] they decided to collaborate on Unwell. They clashed over business, and their friendship is over because of it.”

Yikes!

Thomas also played a big part in the drama! One source said:

“Alix’s dad got more involved in her business decisions and did not like what Unwell was doing. He ultimately thought it ended up not being a smart business move.”

Uh oh! It sounds more and more like this may have come down to money! The first source also noted that “Alix felt taken advantage of,” with the second saying that the social media star already had been “pulling back” from Alex — which we’ve all noticed! Now, Alix hopes to explore other opportunities without Alex’s involvement. One source adds:

“Alix is working on bigger projects not related to the podcast space.”

What about the podcast, though? Will Alix continue Hot Mess without a network? Will she cancel it? To be honest, some fans have gotten the impression she didn’t love making the podcast, so could all of this be a sign she will drop it and move on? Or does she plan to go to another company? Perhaps Barstool Sports? Yeah, Dave Portnoy has entered the drama.

The founder got shady on Instagram Tuesday after the news of Alex dropping Hot Mess broke. With the track Circle of Life playing in the background, he posted a video of a screenshot of a 22-minute phone call between himself and a contact called “Alixearlenew.” Dave wrote in the caption:

“You can stop tagging me. I know what needs to be done.”

OMG!

For those who don’t know, this is almost the same video Alex Cooper posted on TikTok two months ago after Grace O’Malley left Barstool Sports last year due to her feud with former best friend Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia. The Disgraceful podcast host moved to the Unwell Network. And, of course, Alex’s Call Her Daddy was once part of Barstool Sports until 2021. So she has some history with Dave!

Could he get his revenge, swoop in, and steal Alix from Alex? That would be crazy, but it is not happening — at least as far as we know right now! Dave clarified in the comments hours later that he actually “didn’t call” Alix and only posted the video because he “thought it was funny.” If the feud is real, however, we would not be surprised if Alix possibly finds her way at Barstool eventually! You know, to stick it to her former pal!
