Newsflash, America: it’s okay for people dance and have fun in college!
The View‘s openly Republican Megan McCain stood up for political firecracker and Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after a video resurfaced on the internet that shows the 29-year-old busting a move back in her college days.

In a move that many believe was aimed to discredit her, the video popped up on Twitter on Tuesday, just one day before the New York Congresswoman was set to be sworn in. ICYMI, check out the “controversial” visuals (below):

To give you a bit more context here, that clip is part of a longer video put together by AOC and her Boston University “Brat Pack” classmates back in 2010. Videos like these, spoofing the song Lisztomania and Breakfast Club dance sequence mashup, went viral back in 2010. See the full version that’s still up on YouTube (below):

Looks like nothing but fun dance moves and good times, right?? No socialist, radical, Republican fear-mongering bulls**t in sight, yes?
Yet somehow, right-wing trolls took issue with the harmless video with one Twitter user calling AOC a “clueless nitwit.” This is where McCain comes in, using this opportunity to call out the blatant, ridiculous nature of this attack on someone she isn’t even a fan of:

Way to stick up for each other across the aisle, ladies!!
And of course, social media had its own fun by remixing the dancing video with other popular songs. You can check out a few of those in an account dedicated to the spoofs HERE.
Ocasio-Cortez received even more support from other celebs, too:

And the youngest Congresswoman to be sworn in at 29-years-old truly had the last laugh, as you can see (below):

Thoughts on AOC’s college dancing video, Perezcious readers? Cause for controversy, or are people making a big deal out of nothing?
