Whoa, this is cool!
Amazon will begin lending out E-books at more than 11,000 libraries. The books will be available on Kindles or devices with the Kindle app such as Android, iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, PC, Mac, BlackBerry or Windows Phone, as well as in your web browser with Kindle Cloud Reader.
It will work like this:
Customers will use their local library’s website to search for and select a book to borrow. Once they choose a book, customers can choose to “Send to Kindle” and will be redirected to Amazon.com to login to their Amazon.com account and the book will be delivered to the device they select via Wi-Fi, or can be transferred via USB.
The E-books will then be deleted from your device after the lending period (typically two weeks) has ended.
As for now, only a small fraction of Amazon’s digital titles will be available through libraries, but users can check their local library websites for availability.
This will definitely revolutionize the publishing world and may even keep our local libraries open! Exciting!
