Halt & Catch Fire — an ’80s period drama about the early days of personal computing — is AMC‘s newest program, but it’s perhaps more noteworthy because it’s the first show in the history of TV to premiere on Tumblr!!
We’ve heard of TV shows premiering online before — see, for instance, Penny Dreadful — but on Tumblr? That’s a new one!
You probz thought the site was mostly a place for sharing GIFs, but the company is hoping to take things in a new direction!
One Tumblr exec admitted:

Halt & Catch Fire‘s first episode can be seen on Tumblr and AMC.com right now and up until May 31st, but won’t be available on your boob-tube until June 1st.
