What do you get when you add Nigel Lythgoe to your Reality TV show? The answer is a number with many, many zeros.
Fox is currently in talks with reality producer Lythgoe in an effort to bring him back to American Idol, upon Simon Cowell’s tragic leave. Lythgoe is a Reality TV giant, who helped start the AI craze. Currently, he’s a producer and judge on So You Think You Can Dance.
Rumors are circulating that Lythgoe├óΓé¼Γäós return may also be accompanied by a complete reboot of the judge├óΓé¼Γäós panel – getting rid of all the current judges and hiring all new ones!
Standing in Lythgoe’s way is Randy Jackson, who has 1 year left on his contract, and Ellen Degeneres, who’s got a multiyear contract with Fox.
Lythgoe has an increasingly high-profile wish-list of potential judges, including Elton John, Justin Timberlake, and Chris Isaak. There is even some talk that Lythgoe himself might take a judge’s seat.
