UPDATE 10/11/24 2:30 P.M. PST: The cause of Frank Fritz’s death has become clearer. The American Pickers star’s death certificate was obtained by TMZ on Friday, and it makes clear he did ultimately die from complications from his past stroke.
The immediate cause listed is “late sequela of cerebral infarction” — the medical term for a stroke. The underlying cause was “cerebral vascular disease,” which causes difficulty to blood flow in the brain. Also listed are “aortic stenosis” — a chronic condition causing difficulty for blood getting from the heart to the rest of the body — and COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a condition caused by damage to the lungs.
All these factors made Frank’s body a ticking time bomb as blood had such a hard time oxygenating his vital organs. So sad…
The document also confirmed Frank’s body has already been cremated.
Just days after Frank Fritz’s passing, his cause of death has been revealed.
On Tuesday, Mike Wolfe revealed that his American Pickers co-star had tragically passed away the day prior. He penned a lengthy tribute on Instagram, remembering him fondly. At the time, Wolfe wrote:
“I’ve know[n] Frank for more then half my life and what you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny.”

So heartbreaking.
What he didn’t reveal, though, is how Frank died. But that question has now been answered.
On Tuesday, TMZ reported that the 60-year-old passed as the result of compilations from a stroke he suffered in 2022. He had also apparently been battling Crohn’s disease for years, which the outlet reported could have played a role.
So sad…
The news org also noted that Frank spent his last days in a hospice facility in the Quad Cities area on the border of Illinois and Iowa. He was reportedly surrounded by loved ones, including his longtime friend and co-star Mike when he passed.
Such heartbreaking news. But we’re so glad he wasn’t alone. Rest in peace, Frank.
