We can hadly believe it has been a year since Amy Winehouse passed away, and neither can her father, Mitch Winehouse.
To honor the memory of his daughter on the first anniversary of her death, Mitch shared some me memories of Amy in a post he titled “Remembering Amy.”
Mitch wrote:
“Amy always surrounded herself with music, even during her darkest times. Of course, I loved her voice – for me she was the greatest female vocalist of all time – but I also cherish Amy’s lyrics.”
He confesses that he often listens to the album, Frank, to help him remember her. However, he has trouble listening to the songs Amy wrote for Back To Black because many of them were inspired by her ex-husband Blake, and “all of the terrible things he put her through.”
Mitch reveals that even Amy hated certain tracks on Back To Black because:
“They reminded her of all of the bad times with Blake. Towards the end they became very difficult for her to sing.”
Understandably, Amy’s father has complicated emotions about his daughter’s music. He explains:
“Sometimes listening to Amy’s music helps me; sometimes it makes me feel more sad. I miss Amy more than I can say.”
So Sad!!!
We cannot imagine the pain of losing a child.
Our hearts go out to Mitch and the entire Winehouse family today.
