Our hero Amy says:
Hi Perezitos fans!
Since Hollywood’s biggest night is coming up on Sunday, she wanted to share with you some cost effective and chic tips for hosting your own Oscar party.
You can create a funny e-vite by photo-shopping your face on to one of the Oscar nominated movie posters or for a glitzy invite, stick to something classic and sleek, like a Black and White theme. You can even ask your guests to dress up either as a character from one of the nominated films or to come in 1940’s Old Hollywood glamour attire (think Vivien Leigh and Lauren Bacall for the ladies and Gene Kelly and Humphrey Bogart for the men).
Literally roll out the red carpet when your guests arrive so they can make a grand entrance like the stars will at the Kodak Theatre this weekend. Since everyone will be dressed to impress, don’t forget to have a photo opp for your guests. If you’re old school like me, now would be a great occasion to use your Polaroid camera (anyone born after 1990 probably doesn’t know what these awesome cameras are! ha!). This way, all of your guests can leave with a fun memory from your Oscar party. Or you can always snap photos on your camera phone and Tweet what the “stars” at your party were seen wearing!
Serve a custom cocktail which you can name after one of the nominated movies. To make sure your home stays stain free, try serving a light and delicious drink like The Naked Grape’s Moscato Wine. This wine is a celebrity favorite (“American Idol” champ Lee DeWyze loves it!) and you can get it for under $20 at most grocery store chains. Treat your guests to bite size gourmet goodies such as truffle grilled cheese sandwiches on Black Mission Fig Challah Bread made by The Challah King of Beverly Hills, Wild Mushroom Burrata Bruschetta and mini black bottom cheesecakes.
Have everyone guess who is going to take home an Oscar at the Academy Awards with your very own Oscar pool. Print out Oscar ballot and have a cool prize on hand for the person who correctly picks the most Oscar winners. If you want everyone to feel like a star, you can send your guests home with their very own Oscar made out of chocolate!
Have a great time at your Oscar Party!
