There goes our opening musical number!
The news that the unlikely duo will be hosting the biggest night in film was announced to mixed reactions. But Bill Mechanic, a producer of the Oscar show says that the matchup is a “spirit du combat.”
In other words, the most elegant evening of the awards season is going to be turned into a farce for ratings.

We’re sure the pair will spend most of the time playfully bantering about who is doing a better job hosting, or who is better suited for Meryl Streep (they both star in an upcoming movie with Meryl in which they each vie for her affections), so we think we’ll be snoozing through most of the show this year.
Now, if Adam Shankman can find a way to throw in a musical number for us, then we’ll reconsider!
