More evidence that body shaming sucks — it keeps talented women from enjoying the fruits of their labor!
Andie MacDowell recently recalled how she skipped out on attending the Cannes Film Festival in 1989 because she was too ashamed and afraid of being ridiculed after the birth of her daughter.

As a result the actress missed out on celebrating her movie’s win at the prestigious festival!
She said:
“Sex, Lies, and Videotape won here and I didn’t come because I had just had my daughter, and I was nursing her and really round and I was afraid people would make fun of me. I know that was stupid. Now in hindsight, because I’ve matured and I’m older, I don’t really care what people say.”
It’s still sad that she felt so much pressure to look good after she’d given birth.
Though we can’t say we’re surprised, considering how much emphasis there is on looking perfect, especially for women in Hollywood.
The 57-year-old attended this year’s event and looked FLAWLESS in a red beaded Elie Saab gown with plunging neckline during the premiere of Inside Out on Monday!
How you like her now, Cannes?!
