Andy Roddick has a bet going with best friend, retired tennis player Justin Gimelstob.
These buddies have decided that Gimelstob must run the New York City marathon, a 26.2-mile race through the five boroughs, in four hours and 45 minutes.
If he can’t finish, he’ll write a check to The Andy Roddick Foundation for education for $10,000. If he finishes the race in time, Roddick will hand over $10,000 for the Justin Gimelstob Children’s Fund for children with cancer and blood diseases.
Gimelstob has always wanted to run the marathon. He decided to make the run this year since a friend who was a runner passed away. He thought that this would be the ultimate tribute.
Gimelstob admits:
If I have to crawl across the finish line on my hands and knees, I will finish the race. Nothing is more motivating than Andy being able to hold this against me for the rest of my life — he’s relentless.
Go for it Justin!
