Wow. We never thought we’d see the day.
60 Minutes newsman Andy Rooney, who has been featured on the show since 1978 and has garnered over 1,000 broadcasts, will be making his last regular appearance on the show this Sunday, at the age of 92, which will be preceded by a career retrospective interview with Morley Safer!
According to CBS News chairman Jeff Fager:
“There├óΓé¼Γäós nobody like Andy and there never will be. He├óΓé¼Γäóll hate hearing this, but he├óΓé¼Γäós an American original. His contributions to 60 Minutes are immeasurable; he├óΓé¼Γäós also a great friend. It├óΓé¼Γäós harder for him to do it every week. But he will always have the ability to speak his mind on 60 Minutes when the urge hits him.├óΓé¼┬¥
We sincerely hope that he enjoys his well-deserved retirement!
Thanks for your contributions to the world of journalism, Andy!
