NBC & Andy Samberg Being Sued Over Shy Ronnie Sketches!

Not good … but also, sort of strange. Why is this happening now? This thing aired ages ago! Hell, where were these guys with their lawsuit with the sketch got nominated for an Emmy! Just saying…
On Thursday, a St. Louis-based production team filed a lawsuit against NBC and Andy Samberg, claiming that Andy jacked the music that would form the basis for Shy Ronnie and one other sketch from them. You’ll remember the Ronnie sketch from 2009, when Rihanna was a special guest performer. (If not, watch it above)
According to the plaintiffs, Aleric Banks (aka “Rick tha Ruler”) and Monique Hines, they knew Andy through friends and submitted some track as Andy prepared to release his first album with The Lonely Island. The pair added that the initial success off Shy Ronnie and Like A Boss, the other sketch they supposedly created, was a big thrill for them. However, as time went on and they received no compensation or recognition for their work, things too a turn for the worst.
Though it’s been two years since the original airing, the two have filed a lawsuit saying that the music wasn’t really original and they want full compensation for contributing to the routines.
Yeah, we’re not really buying this. Like we said, if they really had a hand in this, they would have jumped on the bandwagon as soon as it was nominated for an Emmy. But then, that’s when they would have gotten the most attention and close scrutiny would have been given to their story. It they’re lying, it would have come out twice as fast as it will now.
