Animal Testing Procedures On The Rise In The UK!

Animal testing has been steadily increasing in the United Kingdom. After an all time like in the late 1990’s, the number of procedures performed on available has increased since 2001.
Mice still remain the most tested animal and figures state that genetic testing may be the biggest contributor in the rise of animal testing.
Genetic testing involves switching the genome of a species, to see its affects. The Understanding Animal Research organization that the genetic tests (in mice) are only used for demonstrable benefit.
Sadly, the public does not if any of these new tests cause their subjects harm.
Universities and medical schools have drastically overtaken commercial organizations in the animal testing trade.
It is important the researchers understand that no matter what the “benefit” may be, animal testing still poses risk to its subjects.
We’ll see how these numbers fare in the near future.
