Another Directing Gig for Affleck

Ben Affleck may be getting into the director’s chair again.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s negotiating to helm a film about the slain Arizona journalist, Don Bolles, and the events it provoked.

The Bolles story is pretty fascinating.

In 1976, Bolles was a reporter for the Arizona Republic newspaper. He was looking into political corruption and the convergence of New York, Chicago and Detroit mobsters in Phoenix. When lured to a downtown hotel by a source who didn’t show up, Bolles was blown up in his car and died days later.

The group of elite national journalists that Bolles had been trying to organize at the time, Investigative Reporters and Editors, responded to the murder by putting together an army investigative reporters in Phoenix from 23 different newspapers and launching a crusade to finish Bolles’ work.

Mafia, conspiracy, press do-gooders all interesting stuff!

If you get the job, don’t eff it up, Ben!
