The wait is (almost) over!
Although rumors suggested an April release date, Apple officially announced on Wednesday that the iPad 2 will start shipping in the United States in a little over a week on Friday, March 11.
The second-generation iPad is thinner, lighter, and faster than the original. It comes equipped with a 10 hour battery life, 2 video cameras (rear and front), and a new A5 dual-core processor which offers up to 9 times faster graphics processing.
Starting at $499, the iPad 2 will be available on on both AT&T and Verizon 3G networks!
New accessories include a $39 cable which offers mirrored HDMI video out to HDTVs for 1080p high-definition output and allows users to charge their iPad while using the video out feature.
A magnetic “smart cover” is also available for $39 which uses microfibers to clean the iPad 2 display and magnetically aligns to cover the screen.
